With the aim of nurturing future leaders through participative management and instilling discipline within the junior ranks by rooting out corruption, the Lejweleputswa District Junior Management Core (JMC) has officially been launched.
Dignitaries, members of the SAPS and guests gathered at the Thabong Indoor Sports Centre on 24 March to usher in this new era in youth policing.
Rev. (Captain) Morake Vinger opened the event with a scripture reading.
The JMC district chairpersons from Fezile Dabi, Thabo Mofutsanayane and Xhariep graced the launch, accompanied by their members.
The purpose of the event was outlined by Lejweleputswa District JMC chairperson, WO Tshepo Sejake.
He reminded members of the importance of being part of this structure.
The motivational speaker and campus director of the Central University of Technology (CUT) Welkom, Prof. Oupa Makole, spoke about the power of great leadership and how it can transform the mind, attitude and further advance the objectives of the organisation.
Speakers encouraged JMC members to further their studies and have proper understanding of the policies of the organisation, and to be innovative in their approach to transforming the future of the SAPS.
On day two of the proceedings, all members of the 20 police stations from the Lejweleputswa district took part in an operation in the Welkom CBD and Thabong.
Various taverns were visited, where awareness on human trafficking, rape and domestic violence was created.
Arrests were done under the Illegal Immigration Act, and for selling liquor without a licence and drinking in public.
