A Gr. 3 learner of the Allanridge Combined School took top honours at the Free State English Spelling Bee, part of the 2022 Provincial Language Festival.
Reneilwe Kumalo placed first in the Free State during the competition, which took place on 12 and 13 October in Bloemfontein. She received her award from Tate Makgoe, MEC for Basic Education in the Free State.
“Reneilwe has made the Leweleputswa District, and her school, very proud. The staff and learners at the school are bursting with pride,” says Willem Pretorius, principal.
Pretorius says it is due to the dedication of her teacher, Angel Koetle, that Reneilwe reached this huge achievement.
“We are a growing school, and we will expand to become a high school. Next year we are phasing in Gr. 10.”
Pretorius says registrations for next year are still open.
