Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. – (Matthew 5:16 NKJV)
Daily, we struggle with tough choices as a result of a deteriorating economic outlook. Naturally, when faced with such choices, people prioritise personal interest.
Making decisions that benefit oneself is good – however, it ought not end there.
I would like to remind you that you are the light of the world (Mth 5:14).

God has placed you in your family, school, workplace or your church to shine bright, and illuminate the path for others. You give light to everyone in the house (vs15).
I would like to remind you that you are the light of the world (Mth 5:14).

Deliberately choose to be the one who encourages love and kindness everywhere you are.
Choose to use your unique talents to ignite positive change in others.
Think of what Ruth did; she showed commitment to family above personal comforts.
On the other hand, Esther showed amazing courage and faith.
She saved the Jews from genocide. Like Esther, you may just be the one raised for, “such a time as this”.
It would not be true to say that their situations were better than what we face. They chose to stand firm in faith.
Matthew 5:16 is a call to us Christians to live out our faith openly and authentically.
There is need to show the transforming power of Christ in our lives.
You are called to live a life of love, compassion and selflessness. Within this week, you are being called to act. Be the “Good Samaritan” to someone.
Help someone in need that you would not easily help because of societal differences. Your situation is better than that of many others.
What we see around us can be made better by all of us doing something.
Moreover, the encouraging part for me is that when you have done these “good works”, those that see them will glorify your father in heaven.
How marvellous! God bless you.
