Winning FS artists thankful for music lovers’ support

The Free State duo 2point1 have dominated the South African Music Awards (Sama) with wins for the Record of the Year and Music Video of the Year categories.


The Free State duo 2point1 have dominated the South African Music Awards (Sama) with wins for the Record of the Year and Music Video of the Year categories.

The commercial house duo, Prince “Priga” Baloyi and Moeketsi “Sheke” Rathebe, from Thabong in Welkom were nominated and won at the reputable awards show. Their chart-topping hit “Stimela”, featuring Ntate Stunna and Nthabie Sings, has secured the duo a spot in South African music history.

The public’s support for “Stimela” is evident. It has not only dominated dance floors but has also taken social media by storm, showing 29 million views on YouTube alone.

The duo have also won the Best Video of the Year award at the Eminent Music Video Awards (EVMA) and the Best Song of the Year award at the Central Music Awards. They are now looking forward to the Lesotho Music Awards after being nominated as the best international feature.

The infectious rhythm of “Stimela” has captivated audiences worldwide, sparking dance challenges from people across the globe, with videos of fans from different countries dancing and singing along on social media.

2Point1 has taken on the role of mentors and embarked on school tours to inspire aspiring musicians and young talents.

Their message is that it does not matter where you come from, anyone can achieve greatness. The pair have also seen several of their tracks crowned song of the year on major radio stations, further affirming their position as trailblazers in the music industry.
