A 45-year-old Thabong woman has been charged with murder after she admitted to stabbing her husband in the chest.
On Wednesday (29/03) the woman went to the Thabong police station where she reported that she had stabbed her husband, Samuel Sithole (58).
“The Police immediately drove with her to her home, and found emergency medical services personnel were at the scene. Sithole was declared dead,” says Capt. Stephen Thakeng, media liaison officer for the Lejweleputswa SAPS.
Thakeng says apparently an argument erupted over a broken table.
Const. Dikgang Melope of Thabong Visible Policing arrested the wife for murder.
Thakeng says domestic violence is often thought to include only physical violence, but it varies in nature. “Do not look away when you suspect that your neighbour is going through any form of abuse. The victim has the right to lay a criminal charge or apply for a protection order at the nearest Magistrate Court,” says Thakeng.
The police appeal to the community to report any form of violence, whether physical, emotional, sexual, intimidation or harassment to the nearest police station to prevent further abuse.
