The EV Dynamics Inland Championship returns to the Phakisa Freeway in Welkom this Saturday (15/09).

The day’s programme is packed with exciting racing, which will feature events of the BMW Sports Car Club, Motormart VW Challenge, Hankook Formula Vee, G&H Transport Extreme Supercars and Bridgestone Challenge/SUB10 Superbikes.

In the Motul category, MPC’s Keegan Pottas (EV Dynamics Honda CRX) will be relishing the challenge of Phakisa’s back straight where his CRX Honda will exceed take-off speeds of a small aircraft.

George Economides (BMW E36), Bjorn Gerbert (Alfa GTV6) and Shane Kroon (in the new turbo charged Golf Mk1) are his nearest challengers.

Paul van Niekerk (EV Dyna­mics Golf), Dirk Lawrence (JDM Tuning Honda Ballade), Ian and Roan Eghlers in the FEC Polo and Golf respectively, will contest the Class B leadership tussle, with Bjorn Gerbert (FAS Alfa GTV6) and Paul Saayman (Inter City Auto Movers Golf) also in the reckoning.

In Class C, Waldo Swiegers (Golf Mk1) will take on Nicholas Cleary (Opel Corsa), Giles Darroch (Golf Mk1) Johan van der Vyver (Devlan Subaru) and Paul Verios (Acrotek LR Spares Golf).

Franco di Matteo (Deltec Ford Laser) heads the championship overall in Class D, but Kenny Darroch (Golf Mk1), Ebrahim Peck (Golf Mk1) and Duane Brown (Ford Fiesta) will keep him busy around the former Moto GP venue.

Ismail Peck will pilot a JDM Tuning Honda Ballade. Wayne Pereira (Golf Mk1) lines up in Class E, alongside Daniel Luwes and Maritz le Roux.

In the Motul Clubmans, Riaan Draper (Peugeot 206) will do battle against Marius Jacobs (Nissan Tigra) and Richard Brenner (Tigra Spaceframe).

The Midvaal Historics will fight over the two heats.

In Class D, Ken Price (Datsun GX Coupe) lines up alongside Travis Jansen (Datsun 1200GX) and Jannie van Rooyen (VW Scirocco).

In Class E Francois Jacobs (Datsun 1200 GX) will battle against Meredith Willis (Ford Escort), Jackie Morrison (Ford Escort) and Gavin Lundin (Datsun 1200 GX).

In Class F Gary Wade and Johan Jarvis (Alfa GT Junior), Peder Jensen (Datsun 1200 GX), Quentin Willis (Ford Escort), Johan Coetzer snr and jnr (Datsun 1200 GTX) and Franz Jensen (Datsun 1200 GTX) will fight for supremacy.

In Class G Andries Draper (Ford Escort) is up against Eugene Gows (Fiat 124), Anton Havenga (Ford Escort) and Tim Crossland (Alfa GT Junior).

In Class H Johan Venter (VW Jetta) awaits other challengers.

The Alfa Trofeo Challenge is the domain of Bjorn Gerbert in the GTV6, Mario Rossi in another GTV6 and Jose de Carvalho (Alfa 155).

Others on the grid will be Johan Swanepoel (Alfa Berlina 1750), Tony Sharp (Giulietta Turbo) and Philip Hendriks (Alfa Sud).Formula Monoposto is split into Formula Libre and Formula M. In the former, Mac Odendaal will line-up against Sean Harrington, John Maurien, Leon Scholz and Clinton Baudoux.The evergreen Jannie Geyser will race his Formula Vee against Tony Beecher Paul Manegold, Michael Kernick and Blaine de Meillon. In the Formula M stakes, in Class A Austin Zungu beat Gary Eveleigh at Midvaal and the pair should again do battle at Phakisa, while in Class B Gerard Geldenhuys takes on Koos Posthumus, Hylton Morrow, Cornel Smit and lady racer Karen Geldenhuys.The race starts at 09:00 and entrance is freeand spectators are invited to join in all the action which guaranteed to be entertaining.
