The pioneer city Welkom’s first-ever welfare organisation, Free State Care in Action (FCIA) Welkom, has celebrated its 70th year of being in operation turned 70.

FCIA Welkom Free State Care in Action Welkomwas the first welfare organisation in the Goldfields.

A small celebration event to mark the occasion took place at the Salt and Pepper restaurant on 24 November.

The function was nostalgic and photographs were shared. They all undertook a trip down memory lane and shared speeches, piano recitals and they enjoyed good company.

“Our focus is still children in need of care and protection, and we are hoping for another 70 years,” says Joanita van Niekerk of FCIA Welkom branch in Free State Care in Action Welkom branch Goudrif.
