Welkom has its own semi-finalist for the prestigious Mrs South Africa beauty pageant.
Lizzy Molelekoa entered the competition in November 2022, and on 4 February she was selected as one of the semi-finalists at the Emperors Palace hotel in Johannesburg.
It is expected that the finals will take place on 1 July at Emperors Palace.
There were five semi-finalists selected from the Free State, says Molelekoa.
Her slogan for her election campaign is the importance of education. “I am focusing on school dropouts in the middle of the year. I want to reach that learner and motivate and encouragement him or her to go back to school and have a proper education, and acquire the necessary skills,”she says.
Molelekoa is a teacher by profession, and has a firm stance on gender-based violence. “I want to empower women to be brave about their insecurities,” she says.
