The Welkom Runners who went down to KwaZulu-Natal to conquer the 96th edition of the world’s toughest ultramarathon, the renowned Comrades Marathon, celebrated their successes at a special function held in Welkom.

The 22 warriors attended the group’s post-run session at a local restaurant.

Nkhetheni Masupa, the group’s leader, elaborated on the importance of this gathering.

“It is our annual tradition for us to host this event and revisit what went right and wrong during our preparations towards this enormous race, what happened during the race itself, and what one must consider in the future to rectify or better our performances accordingly.

“Most of these runners are about to start preparing for the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon on 15 October,” he said.
