A Thabong man has been reported missing after he was declared unfit to stand trial.
On 22 December 2023 Oupa Mokwakwa (28) was released by the Welkom Magistrates’ Court as he was declared unfit to stand trial, according to medical reports by a Bloemfontein psychiatric hospital.
Mokwakwa’s mother, Elisabeth Tomas, who resides at an informal settlement in Thabong, alleges that her son was detained at the Odendaalsrus Correctional Services facility and the case against him was withdrawn due to the medical report.
He was also declared a state patient and was supposed to be sent back to the aforementioned hospital in Bloemfontein.
Mokwakwa has not been seen since the date of his release. His mother has since reported him missing at the Thabong Police Station.
Should anyone have information leading to the detection of the missing Mokwakwa, they are asked to contact WO Gerrie Nel of Thabong Serious and Violent Crimes on 082-806-8432 or the Crime Stop number 08600-10111.
