“The Thabong police then sent a vehicle to the address. They found the naked body of an African female under the bed. Her chest was covered with a bandana and she was wrapped in a white duvet. The deceased had a swollen eye and had strangulation marks on her neck,” says Thakeng.

At the scene, an African man introduced himself as Zakhele Gonyongo, the brother of the deceased who was later identified as Ntombizodwa Mariam Gonyongo (27).

The suspect was detained for murder, and kept at the Orkney police station.

“The same boyfriend has just been released on bail for rape that was allegedly committed during September 2022,” says Thakeng.
