Ten marathon runners from Welkom took part in the Trojan Om die Dam Ultra Marathon at Hartebeespoort Dam on 16 March.

This is the largest inland ultra marathon in South Africa, offering a 50 km race and a 8 km fun run.

Om Die Dam has a reputation for its scenic route, the high standard of organisation, as well as the timing in the build-up to both Comrades and the Two Oceans Marathons.

The two brothers Ntshengedzeni and Nkhetheni Masupa took position one and two respectively in their category, for runners 50 years and older.

  • Ten Welkom Runners were amongst thousands of athletes on the day to finish this course.   • The 8 km fun run finishers were: Mantsali Mokoebetane (44 mins) and Thoko Nyalani (50 mins).
