Elderly residents of Residensia, Odendaalsrus, took to the streets on Monday (07/03) to spruce up the neighbourhood.

According to Verona Morton, a resident, they have lodged numerous complaints about the long grass that restricts visibility.

Jimmy Frazer (80) took it upon himself to cut the grass on the corner of Jasmyn and Iris Road.

Another resident, Henry Bird (73), regularly removes refuse from Cosmos Street when the service of refuse removal is not delivered. In this way, he prevents rubbish from blowing about when bags are torn open.

“We are thankful for them,” Morton said.

“They are excellent examples, doing what Matjhabeng fails to do.”
