So many people, when they receive Christ into their lives, have the relief and satisfaction that they are forgiven of their sins and that they can now go to heaven.
Of course, all this is quite accurate and correct, but there is more. Being saved or “born again” means that we have been adopted into the family of God and we are now seen and called by God as “his sons”.
In our natural life, we all know that we must grow from a child into maturity – it is the same in the spirit. All of God’s children must grow from immaturity into a state of maturity.
In Romans 8:29 we read: For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son.
As this maturing takes place, our purpose is to represent our Father in every area of our lives. As we do this, we see that our focus is no longer on “going” to heaven, but rather “bringing” heaven to the earth, to our homes, workplace and the towns we live in.
Most know how to pray the Lords’ Prayer, but in reality, the Kingdom of God “comes” as we take our responsibility to rule as the “kings and priests” He has declared us to be. (Revelation 1:6 and 5:10)
Let us all present ourselves before the Lord to receive his instructions as to how He would want us to live our lives amongst all those around us.
Let us not silently hide as Christians waiting to go to heaven, but rather take our place as his sons and make a difference wherever we are.
