The Rotary Club of Goldfields Sunset will once again host the Madiba 67 Minute Walk/Run for Charity on Tuesday, 18 July.

“The essence of the Madiba Walk is to give 67 minutes of your time for the 67 years Madiba fought for freedom and equality. This is one day in the year we can stand together as friends, as colleagues, as a united nation, with no boundaries or prejudices, but as one,” says Dulcie Harris, convenor of the annual race.

“Open your hearts on this day. Funds and food raised on this day go towards our National Woman’s Day project, Campaign Against Woman and Child Abuse, while identifying the most needy families, and gifting them with a food parcel,” says Harris.

The event takes place at 17:30 from the Rhino entrance of Goldfields Mall.

Registration opens at 12:00 at the information desk inside the mall.

The 2 km and 5 km cost R50, the 10 km registered run R100, and temporary licences are available at R70. The public is asked to also doinate any non-perishable food items as part of their entrance fee.

“If you do not bring food, we ask for an additional R20 that will go directly towards purchasing food. Let us break all records and make this year Welkom’s biggest event ever. See you there,” says Harris.
