Walk by Faith, a celebration that’s not only educational but also fun and family-friendly, is to take place on 26 April at Welkom Volkskool.

This exciting event is the brainchild of Nicky Barnes, a local businesswoman.

“Our goal is to shine a light on the everyday challenges faced by both our mental and physical health communities.

Through this event, we’ll raise awareness and foster understanding, all while having an enjoyable time together,” says Barnes.

Key highlights include service dog demonstrations. Barnes says trainers and their dogs will showcase how these amazing animals are trained.

“We will showcase the vital roles they play in daily life, and the responsibilities we, as the public, have to support them,” she says.

The fun day will also include jumping castles, a meet and greet with Welkom business owners who are supporting this amazing cause and plenty of delicious food stalls to satisfy everyone’s taste buds.

There will also be primary school pom pom girls to ensure a fun element. Another highlight will be a doggy competition for small-to-medium dogs with categories like “Fugly, Beautiful, and Friendly, ” with prizes to be won.

The event will run from 10:30 to 15:00.

“It is going to be a day full of excitement, learning, and community spirit.
