Members of the Rural Safety and Stock Theft group recovered 35 stolen livestock valued at R140 200, with two suspects arrested.
On 15 October the police received information about suspicious people chasing cattle near a farm. Upon arrival, two suspects were spotted and approached.
The suspects alleged that they were taking the cattle to another farm, but could not provide a removal certificate or documentation to show where they bought the cattle.
Local farmers were called and one of them indentified the stock as his, and also confirmed to have opened a case of stock theft with Hennenman officials where eight of his cows were stolen from his kraal.
The suspects were arrested for possession of suspected stolen livestock. Seven mixed breed cows and calves worth an estimated R70 000 were recovered and handed back to the lawful owner.
The Rural Safety members attended to another stock theft complaint at a farm where 27 Boerboks, valued at R70 200, were stolen.
On 13 October, members of the Stock Theft and Rural Safety units worked together, tracing the goats which were found hidden in the bushes. They only recovered 17 goats, ten are still missing.
