Drug dealers were arrested in Thabong and Virginia after being caught selling drugs on Tuesday, 17 October.
The Welkom Public Order Policing (POP) unit Platoon 5 were conducting a stop and search operation in the Matjhabeng Section in Thabong, when they noticed a suspicious exchange between two African men.
The two suspects started running when the police approached. One of the suspects was caught after running into his yard, trying to hide cash and drugs underneath a couch.
A 32-year-old male was arrested for the possession and dealing of drugs after Mandrax tablets were found.
In another incident, an arrest was made in the Virginia CBD when the POP team was on patrol. They came across a concerned community member who provided information about a man busy selling drugs from a shop.
Upon arrival at the shop, the police found Mandrax hidden inside a shoe on the shelf and other drugs such as dagga and Crystal meth were found in the shop owner’s possession. A 39-year-old male was arrested for possession and dealing in drugs.
