A Welkom drug dealer has been sentenced to six years’ imprisonment by the Welkom courts, while his partner in crime received a R8 000 fine.
The two were sentenced on 13 July.
Rammatli Joseph Ntaidate (35) and Nhlanhla Lucky Ndawo (27) were found guilty of dealing in drugs.
Ndawo was sentenced to a six-year prison sentence, whilst Ntaidate was fined R8 000 and slapped with a five-year suspended sentence.
In 2020, the Welkom-based Serious Organised Crime Investigation detectives became aware of criminal activities at a certain house in Welkom.
They sought the assistance of members of the Crime Intelligence and Flying Squad.
On 20 October 2020, the team kept up with their observations and noticed a suspicious vehicle leaving the premises.

They promptly gave chase.
Upon their searching of the vehicle, cash was discovered by the police officers, hidden inside a sound system compartment.
This led the officers back to the house where more cash and drugs were found.
Mandrax tablets, estimated to be worth more than R1 million, and cash adding up to R270 000 was recovered.
