The gruesome discovery of the body of a man whose throat had been slit has sent shock waves through the community of Thabong.
The body was found on Saturday in a furrow next to a shopping complex at the entrance to Thabong in Constantia Road.
Information was received from residents, and two suspects were arrested. Their clothes and shoes were full of blood stains.
“The motive for this heinous crime is not known. The murder will be investigated by Detective WO Gerrie Nel of Thabong Serious and Violent Crimes,” says Capt. Stephen Thakeng, media liaison officer for the SAPS in Lejweleputswa.
The deceased has been identified as Mthutuzeli Ntjotini (31). He and his father, Ndoda Maphetha, both resided at one of the hostels in Thabong.
“Investigations led to the arrest of two foreign nationals, aged 26 and 31. The arrests were made by constables Umziozima Nana, Mosiuwa Mononye and Mapaseka Matlhoko, sergeants Itumeleng Dibe and Pule Lepele, as well as Nel.
The district commissioner of Lejweleputswa, Maj. Gen. Lerato Molale, applauded the residents of Thabong for assisting with information that led to these arrests.
By sharing the sensitive information with Thabong SAPS members, Molale said, the two suspects who are thought to have committed this heinous crime “that left the Thabong community reeling in shock,” have been arrested.
