Welkom’s very own running “twins” took part in Johannesburg’s first marathon of 2022, the Joburg North City Marathon, on Sunday (13/02).
The marathon was hosted by the Run Zone Athletics Club, and was held at the Marks Park Sports Club in Emmarentia. The route included 5 km, 10 km, 21 km and 42 km.
Nationally known as the Team Vitality Twins of the Road, Nkhetheni Masupa and Abe Nkomo from Welkom received the attention they enjoy.
The event was well organised and attended by athletes from all over the country.
“We were happy to be back on the road and running in real events again,” said Masupa.
“What made it even bigger and better was that this marathon was a qualifier for the Two Oceans and Comrades.”
