I want to start off this ‘Hope for the week’ by stating that Your life carries great value and purpose.

I say that because I am totally convicted about the truth that all people are created in the image of God, and carry a divine purpose to be realised in our time on earth. We all have a starting point in the heart of the creator of the universe.

This is true whether we believe it or not and whether we experience it or not. And we want to be able to answer those questions for ourselves.

We want to believe that “we were not created just to work, pay bills, and die” (Robin Sharma), and that there is more to our lives than the being busy, and a mundane routine.

But that, unfortunately, can be the narrative that plays on repeat in the hearts and minds of most. Unless we are willing to press pause on our lives and take stock of what we really believe, we will continue to run the hamster wheel of our lives that seems to go nowhere fast.

God is the author of family and the pioneer of work, and is definitely not opposed to us expanding our lives in all areas. What we need to discover is the motive behind what we do. Is it for my own purposes and pleasure or do I engage in life from the world-view that I was created by God and for God and that all of my life encompasses His will.

One of the most famous examples we see in the Bible is the life of Paul the Apostle. He gives us a run-down of his ancestry and CV in Philippians 3:5-8, and then states something very disturbing and yet profound.

We see this in Acts 20:24 where he says that his life is worth nothing to him unless he uses it for finishing the work assigned to him by the Lord Jesus Z the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.

Paul was a minister of God, a priest, a Pharisee, and yet realised that he was missing the point to his life. Is it possible to do the right thing with the wrong motive? It was only when he encountered the truth in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ and discovered his divine identity and purpose, that his work started to make sense and bring meaning to him and others.

Our lives can only make sense and add value when we begin with God in mind.Ask the hard and real questions and ask them to the only One who can truly answer them.)Emmanuel Archontakis is of the Kingdom Ministries of Christ.
