Odendaalsrus residents have banded together and assisted the police in arresting three men who were suspected of robbing a liquor outlet in the town.
On Sunday, 4 August, members of the Welkom K9 and Public Order Policing (POP) unit were activated to look for the three perpetrators.
The three suspects, Teboho Ditlame (35), Percy Rabela (34) and Mandla Ntantiso (30), were chased and arrested. They were found in possession of 13 packets of Dunhill and Courtleigh cigarettes (packs of 20), a Norinco pistol, one magazine, eight rounds of live ammunitions, counterfeit money, and five bottle of whisky. All was confiscated.
The suspects have appeared in the Odendaalsrus Magistrates’ Court. They had their bail applications postponed to 13 August.
The trio have been charged with business robbery, possession of an unlicensed firearm, ammunitions, and counterfeit money.
