Three suspects were arrested for allegedly hijacking a truck.

A 42-year-old truck driver and his colleague were on their way to deliver milk at the Alamin tuckshop in Nyakallong on 21 February.

The driver noticed a man trying to steal milk in the truck through the side mirror. When he approached the man, two additional men confronted the driver with knives.

The driver and his colleague fled on foot, leaving the truck with the keys still in the ignition.

One of the three suspects then jumped inside the truck and drove it from the scene. He lost control and crashed into a house. The truck was left there and the suspect fled on foot.

A case of truck hijacking was registered for further investigation.

The police initiated a manhunt which then led to the arrest of the three suspects, aged 22, 25 and 27 years. The trio appeared in the Odendaalsrus Magistrates’ Court on 26 February.
