On 16 June, the Safa office in Lejweleputswa, in partnership with the LM Kwebu Foundation, held an U17 football tournament in Thabong.
This was one of the first tournaments of what will be an annual tournament held by the aforementioned entities.
The tournament had ten participating teams from around Welkom, Matjhabeng.
In the final match played at the Letsete Secondary School, Napoli FC defeated City Rangers 4 – 3 on penalties after the game had ended in a 1 – 1 draw. Zingu 7 played City Rangers, and Welkom Galaxy played Napoli in the semifinals.
“This will be an annual event, presented in partnership with SAFA,” says Paul Setlaba of the LM Kwebu Foundation.
