The Welkom police arrested suspects in Thabong in connection with a business burglary and dealing drugs on Thursday, 26 October.
The Welkom Public Order Policing (POP) received information about a group of suspects who committed a business burglary at a clothing store in the Welkom CBD. They forced their way into the store by cutting open the roof, with many cellphones then stolen.
A 38-year-old suspect was found in possession of a Mobicell, Hi Sense U60, Cosmo Lite Mobicel, and Redmi 94 cellphones valued at R6 040.
Later that day, the Welkom POP received another tip-off regarding a house suspected of being the base for drug dealing.
The house was searched and a 26-year-old man was found in possession of CAT along with R1 000 cash. He will be facing charges of drug dealing.
The two suspects will appear in the Welkom Magistrates’ Court today, 30 October.
