A house invasion was reported in Odendaalsrus and three suspects were subsequently arrested.
A 49-year-old victim and her three children were sleeping at their residence in Block 7 Kutloanong, Odendaalsrus, when she awoke to the sound of a door being kicked open.
She went to find the source of the noise. Upon switching on a light, she saw three men. Two were wearing balaclavas and the third wore a scarf, holding a firearm and can of pepper spray.
The woman was sprayed in her face and in the process, the scarf fell from the suspect’s face. The suspect was recognised, whereupon the victim asked the trio why they were targeting her. Instead of answering, the unmasked suspect kicked her.
She fell to the floor and screamed for help, and the suspects fled from the scene on foot.
She noticed that an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen, with no one seriously injured and no shots fired.
The incident was reported to the Odendaalsrus Police Station and a case of house robbery was registered.
The information was followed up and three suspects aged 32, 38 and 44 years were arrested by the Odendaalsrus Detective Services members.
The suspects will appear in the Odendaalsrus Magistrates’ Court on 23 February.
