Moeti Molelekoa, Matjhabeng:

The once beautiful infrastructure of Matjhabeng, before the incumbent government, is falling apart.

The AME Church Orangia Conference that started on Thursday, 31 October, at the church premises was moved to the Ferdie Meyer Hall in Welkom on Saturday and Sunday.

Over 1 000 delegates and observers converged on the once state-of-the-art double storey city hall, now a shadow of its former self. The health of attendees was put at risk as the air-conditioning was not effective due to lack of servicing. They also had to endure the conference without running water for the ablution block.

Meanwhile, the Vaal Central Water (VCW) board has written to the National Treasury asking for it to withhold the Matjhabeng grant funding due to lack of payment for water supply.

The board is owed R6 billion by the municipality and has been struggling to get payment out of the municipality.
