The Bible teaches us that the church is the body of Christ on earth. We as believers are his body while He is its head.
As bodily members, we are his personal representatives. We act on his behalf. Our bodies are his temple in which He lives and makes himself known to the world.
The church’s ineffective position in the world as well as our cities, towns, and communities lie precisely in the fact that Christ is not offered the opportunity to reveal himself through his believers.
Because we are not in a personal relationship with Christ, churches are simply engaged in religious exercises that have little or no impact on humanity.
Instead of winning back the lost for Christ and impacting our communities with the love of Jesus regardless of colour or race, the church is engaged in a battle to survive and keep its doors open.
We stand with a lifeline in our hands while the society in which God has placed us, is drowning because we are not willing to give up our age-old traditions. Many are sacrificed on the altars of tradition and man-made religion because often a handful of people refuse to change.
I believe that because God loves the world’s inhabitants so much and because He does not want one person to be lost, He is going to force us, as a church, through circumstances and situations beyond our control to fulfil his great commission.
I pray that the Holy Spirit will reawaken a passion for Jesus in you. Passion that will make you look at the church’s calling and your own through different eyes.
Passion that will make you throw out the lifeline to those who need it so desperately without regard to race, colour or status. God relies on the church to carry out that great commission.) Fansie Botes, doulos for Christ.
