A manhunt has been launched for two men who shot and killed a Thabong woman, and wounded her partner in their home on Saturday.
The Thabong police are investigating a case of murder and attempted murder after a woman and her boyfriend were shot by two men on Saturday, 28 January, at about 03:35 in Modikeng Street, Thabong.
“It is alleged that two men arrived at the house looking for Palesa Khoane. One of them was carrying a firearm.
They then forced the door of the back room open and, without saying a word, shot Palesa in the chest. Her boyfriend was shot in his left hip. Both suspects fled the scene on foot,” said Capt. Stephen Thakeng, media liaison officer for the Lejweleputswa police.
The 38-year-old male victim was taken to one of the hospitals in Matjhabeng, while Palesa Caroline Khoane (38) was certified dead by Emergency medical services (EMS) personnel.
“The next of kin have been formally informed about the death of their loved one. Two cartridges were also found at the crime scene. A male person known as Mmako can assist the police with this shooting incident in Thabong,” said Thakeng.
