A Thabong man (44) was arrested under suspicion of fatally stabbing his 33-year-old girlfriend in Thabong, Welkom.
The suspect was arrested in Thabong by members of the Thabong police after receiving information about his whereabouts in the area on 30 January.
At the scene, a woman was lying in a pool of blood, believed to have been stabbed four times. She was pronounced dead.
The victim’s grandmother, Elizabeth Binza, identified the deceased as her granddaughter, Makopano Jeanette Molelekoa.
The suspect was taken into custody and a knife, believed to be the murder weapon, was seized.
The motive for the fatal stabbing is still unknown, and the investigation continues
The suspect appeared before the Welkom Magistrates’ Court on 1 February.
