A Thabong man was kidnapped from his home, allegedly by a farm owner, and has not been seen or heard from since.

On 7 November, Themba Thiko was taken from his home in the Gugulethu informal settlement in Thabong, by two African women and three African men in a white Toyota Fortuner.

“After the abduction, the family reported him missing at the Thabong police station. They say a neighbour of Thiko told them that he was forcefully taken by the group of people. Two men were seen assaulting Thiko, accusing him of stealing the farm’s fencing and poles. Apparently, he was taken to the farm and further assaulted there.

“Preliminary investigations reveal that the farmer claims that Thiko left the farm alive, even though he was never seen again after he was taken to the farm premises,” says Capt. Stephen Thakeng, media liaison officer for the Lejweleputswa police.

Thiko is 36 years old, slender, roughly 1,7 meters in height, dark in complexion, and has dreadlocks.
