The Pitbulls of Matjhabeng, Kweetsa Primary School’s U14 football team, came second in the Minolta schools football tournament that was held in Phomolong, Hennenman.
The tournament took place on 29 October, and four schools played in the one-day tournament.
Kweetsa played to a 2 – 2 draw against Moso in the first semi-final on the Moso grounds.
The team then won by 4 – 3 on penalties to reach the final in the second semi-final. Phomolong beat Reiketseditse by 4 – 0 in the final and Phomolong won by 2 – 1 against Kweetsa.
The team’s coach, Lefa Senatla, was impressed with his boys’ performance, especially Vusi Mara, who is the tournament’s leading goal scorer with four goals. Vusi’s goals set his school in the second position of the Minolta tournament.
The following Monday, the Pitbulls arrived early at the school holding, lifting the silver medals and trophy at the assembly. They were led by their captain, Tshidiso Seshaba.
“What amazing talent we have in Kweetsa,” said Senatla.
