Suspects sought after armed house robbery in Welkom

A Welkom family was robbed at gunpoint by three African males aged between 30 and 35 years old.


A Welkom family was robbed at gunpoint by three African males aged between 30 and 35 years old.

On Sunday, 3 October, three armed robbers entered a block of flats in Doorn, Welkom.

They pointed firearms at a family who live in one of the flats and demanded money from them. The robbers instructed the family to lie on the ground.

They took an undisclosed amount of cash from one of the victims, as well as cellphones found in one of the bedrooms.

“The incident was reported at the Welkom police station and a case of house robbery was registered for further investigation”, says Sgt Fikiswa Matoti, spokesperson for the Free State police.

An identity kit was used to reconstruct the face of one of the suspects. He is light in complexion, has a medium build and is 1.8 m tall. He was wearing a navy-blue wool hat, a navy-blue jacket, green trousers and beige boots.
