On Monday (01/08) at about 01:00 a filling station in Thabong was robbed of an unknown amount of money when a group of men broke the glass door with a sledgehammer before they stormed inside.
Cash was taken from the cash registers, and explosives were used to open the safe to gain access to the cash inside of it.
A cashier (27) was helping his colleague at a speed point when the assailants launched their attack.
“A private security company responded to the panic button, and the suspects fired several shots towards the private security. Shots were returned, but no one was injured in the incident,” says Capt. Stephen Thakeng, media liaison officer for the Lejweleputswa SAPS.
A case of business robbery has been registered for further investigation.
Anyone with information leading to the arrest of the suspects is requested to contact Sgt. Morena Machalotsa of the Provincial Organised Crime unit on 076-423-5295, or the police emergency number, 08600-10111.
