Operation Vala Umgodi continues to deal with illicit mining operations in Lejweleputswa.
The operation saw six suspects arrested for the possession of gold-bearing material and illicit mining equipment.
On Tuesday, 12 March, members of the Vala Umgodi operation conducted an investigation of illicit mining operations around Virginia.
While at one of the mines, six suspects, aged between 20 and 35 years old, were arrested at a farm in the outskirts of Virginia for being in possession of possible gold-bearing material worth an estimated R800 000, possession of possible gold processing equipment, and contravention of the immigrations law.
