Suspected diesel thief caught by Ventersburg police, partner evades capture

On Thursday, 2 May, the Ventersburg police’s highway patrol caught a man red-handed with stolen diesel and equipment at the town’s truck stop.

The police were busy with observations on the N1 route near Ventersburg when they spotted two men busy stealing diesel from one of the trucks parked at the truck stop.

The officers acted swiftly but the two men took off as soon as they noticed the police. The police gave chase and one suspect was caught and arrested after he was found with the stolen diesel. The other suspect succeeded in fleeing.

The 36-year-old suspect was charged with theft and possession of suspected stolen diesel.
