A caring principal and her management team organised a motivational session to inspire the learners at her school.

Mantoa Nhlapo, principal of the Bahale Secondary School, invited local businessman Sinde Nhlapo and the District Commissioner of Lejweleputswa, Maj. Gen. Tholie Afonso, to speak to the learners on 17 April at the school in Phomolong, Hennenman.

Guest speakers included Lt Col. Sephiri Matankole who encouraged the learners to report crime and those involved in criminal acts within the school environment.

During her speech Afonso told the learners that winning is a habit, but so is losing.

“The choice is yours,” she said.

She explained that she had been born in a two-roomed house in a Section of Phomolong called Putswastene.

It was difficult, as her mother was struggling, but her family’s financial situation was never a hinderance to her studying hard, passing her matric year, and ultimately enlisting with the SAPS.

She started to work in Hennenman and continued with her studies.

She told them that the two-roomed house had produced many properties.

She said the sky was the limit and that they as learners could change the situation of their families by being educated.

Afonso completed her final schooling year at the Bahale Secondary School, which explains why she has decided to adopt the school.

Bishop Dr Moratehi Sekete motivated the learners and educators with a powerful message.
