Store owner fights robbers

An armed robber sustained injuries when a shop owner slashed at his head with a panga during a robbery at the Khan Supermarket in Odendaalsrus.

The shop owner was shot three times.

On Thursday, 11 August, the owner of Khan Supermarket in Kutloanong, Kamal Hossel (31), was robbed at gun point. After being shot three times by one of the robbers, he managed to injure the robber in the processone of his the suspects, after he had been shot three times in his body.

Kamal and his 21-year-old employee were serving customers when they were confronted by the armed men who demanded money.

”One of the armed suspects shot Hossel three times before he ma­naged to grab his panga,” says Capt. Stephen Thakeng, media liaison officer for the police in LejweleputswaSAPS.

Thakeng says the suspects robbed an undisclosed amount of cash before they fled the scene.

“Hossel and his assistant walked to the Kutloanong Satellite Police Station to report the incident. He was bleeding profusely because of the bulletshot wounds, and was taken to hospital for medical treatment,” says Thakeng.

A case of business robbery was registered for further investigation.
