The Virginia Rural Safety co-ordinators have been applauded for recovering Bonsmara cattle worth R133 000.
On Wednesday, 22 June, at about 14:45 Virginia Rural Safety co-ordinators received a complaint of stock theft from the farm Doornkop on the Virginia/Ventersburg road.
The members of the unit followed the tracks from the farm, through the H4 plant and Masimong shaft number 4 mine premises towards the Bronville commonage kraal, but no cattle were found.
The following day they received more information, and the missing Bonsmara cattle were recovered near the Masimong crossing on the Virginia/Welkom road.
The farmer, Bokkie Human, confirmed that the six cattle belonged to him. “He did not want to register a case, but was thankful for the efforts made by the Rural Safety Co-ordinators of Virginia with their selfless willingness to serve and protect the property of citizens,” says Capt. Stephen Thakeng, media laison for the Lejweleputswa SAPS.
