Scarcely four years old, and already the Warriors Ringball Club has produced some of the best Free State players to date.
“Our club has grown in leaps and bounds. Last year they participated and represented the Free State during the national tournament,” says André van den Berg, Free State Ringball president and coach.
From this tournament teams were assembled with players from both the Welkom Warriors and Collegians club in Kroonstad.
“All players from Welkom who participated in try-outs for Free State teams were chosen,” says Van den Berg.
The teams are coached by Van den Berg, Karen Crouse, Adri De Bruin and Alida Marais.
“We would also like to welcome and congratulate our new Warriors Club chairman, Dilin Muller. We are excited for the future of our sport. Having the Hentie Cilliers High School in Virginia on board means the world. They have produced multi-skilled and talented players who will be joining forces with us. We are approaching Welkom-Gimnasium as well, for more players and more competition,” says Van den Berg.
He emphasises that ringball is the ultimate family sport.
“Everyone who is interested is welcome to join us,” he says.
Virginia also has a club for anyone interested.
