The prompt reaction of the powers that be to address the hazardous situation at the bridge at the Findlay lane entrance (R34) to Odendaalsrus has been positively received by residents and motorists using this road. The efforts of cllr Estelle Dansey’s determined fight to get the road fixed, has ultimately paid off. “Thanks to the swift action of the Free State provincial government and QTC Civils, the bridge is now safe for use,” she says. Her diligence in reporting the dilapidated bridge to the Free State government in late April and then following up on 4 May, ensured that the necessary repairs were made. On 5 May, a request was sent to the director of infrastructure to close the bridge. This was done to prevent any potential damage to the road users’ vehicles. “We commend the efficient work of QTC Civils and government in completing the repairs in a mere ten days. This rapid response demonstrates their commitment to serving our community. We would like to extend our gratitude to all parties involved in the repair of the bridge. This achievement is a testament to the power of effective communication and collaboration.” Photo: Supplied
