The second Westside 5-a-side soccer tournament was held on 18 and 19 February in Odendaalsrus.
During this tournament, netball was added to the programme.
“This addition has allowed the tournament to grow rapidly and to become very successful. The invited teams came in numbers and from all parts of Welkom, and other teams from Odendaalsrus also came to join the initiative,” says Patrick Lekaota, founder.
He says it is heartening to see the support they received from the community, and part of the initiative is to encourage more businesses and small entrepreneurs to join them.
“By doing this they will be introducing themselves and boost the township economy,” says Lekaota.
