One man died, and four others were injured, during a gang-related tavern shooting in Thabong.

On Saturday (01/07) the members of Thabong Visible Policing were busy with routine crime prevention when they were summoned to a shooting incident at Samuel’s Tavern.

There they found one man lying on the ground.

He had been shot in the stomach, and was identified by his brother as Neo Malobehla (22).

There were four other gunshot victims, who were all taken to a nearby hospital.

The station commander of Thabong, Brig. Envor Solomon, activated a 72-hour plan to trace the suspects. A team comprised of Thabong Detective Services, Crime Intelligence, the Serious and Violent Crimes task team and Visible Policing was put together.

Two suspects aged 25 and 30 were subsequently arrested on Monday. One of them is an undocumented foreign national.

They were charged with murder and four counts of attempted murder.

Two additional suspects are still at large and the manhunt continues.

The case has been assigned to the provincial Anti-Gang Unit for further investigation.
