As the prospect of January’s new year’s resolutions gradually fade into the background of our busy lives, we cannot help but wonder if 2024 will prove to be any different from last year, or the year before. Will we finally have the courage to start that new business, accept the new job opportunity, and conquer our fears?
I am reminded of the philosopher George Hegel’s words: “The only thing we learn from history is that we learn nothing from history.”
As human beings we have a tendency to revert back to the way we have always done something, expecting different results.
We need to ask ourselves: Is this working for me? If not, what can I do differently to get a different outcome?
In 2 Cor 10:5 we are told to “demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ”.
We are instructed to recognise the inner chatter of our minds, the thoughts we allow to occupy our mind space and shape our emotions. We need to halt the projection of any negative thoughts.
Jesus said in John 10:10, “I have come that they might have life in abundance.”
But in reality, how do we experience this abundance in the face of adversity?
- We read in 2 Peter 1:3 that His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness. So, what are the thoughts that stop you from living in this kingdom? Change history, starting with your own. Lana Archontakis is of the Kingdom Ministries.
