And now, do not be distressed and do not be angry with yourselves for selling me here, because it was to save lives that God sent me ahead of you. Gen 45:5

There are times when people plot evil against us, but God turns it into good for the benefit of mankind.

It is important that we focus on the good that comes from every situation.

We are nearing the end of yet another year, and many fall into the temptation of being filled with regrets. Some feel low because of missed opportunities or mayhems suffered.

Some find comfort in blaming others.

Let us pick a few lessons from the life of Joseph. Joseph was a pampered child who found himself in a pit, then a foreign land as a servant, then in prison although he had committed no crime, and finally in the palace.

Through this we learn that it is important to wait on the Lord regardless of our situation. Joseph resisted the temptation presented by his masters’ wife by putting God first. His hope remained in God through uncertainty,

We also learn that to err is human and to forgive is divine. When we are hurt by a close family member it is very painful.

In Colossians 3:13 we read that we must forgive as the Lord forgave us. Unforgiveness hinders progress. It is a poison that kills the partaker. Seeing the bigger picture means forgiving and moving on.

If there has ever been someone with a good reason to revenge, it was Joseph.

God may choose to use any of our situations for His glory. Joseph’s brothers sold him with evil intentions, but God used Joseph to feed the same family, the entire Egypt and other nations. Today, we serve the same God.

I pray that we realise this and rejoice in His presence as we sing Psalms 86:13 “For great is your love toward me; you have delivered me from the depths, from the realm of the dead.” – Grace Mufara, Covenant Apostolic Church, Virginia.
