Drake O’Tool cuts through the water with strength and precision at the South African National Junior Championships, a true testament to his unwavering commitment and rising potential in the pool.

Top swimmers in the Goldfields were honoured for their prowess in the pool during the annual prize-giving of the Welkom Aquatics Swimming Club on 7 June.

Swimmers, coaches, and families honoured the commitment and achievements of the club’s athletes over the past season.

Donna van Wyk, spokesperson for the club, says the swimmers were also acknowledged for their efforts, consistency and positive attitude throughout the season.

“Although the season brought both challenges and victories, one message remained: Stay strong and remain determined. Welkom Aquatics is proud of every swimmer’s growth, resilience, and dedication in and out of the pool,” says Van Wyk.

The five swimmers who received top honours are: Mia Vorster (junior victrix ludorum), Levi Bouwer (junior victor ludorum), Sheyenne Laubscher (senior victrix ludorum), Drake O’Tool (senior victor ludorum and swimmer of the year) and Ashley Seymour (most dedicated swimmer).

“As the club looks forward to the future, the focus remains on nurturing excellence and building strong, confident athletes,” says Van Wyk.
