Goudveld Multisport running mates Louis Fourie (left) and Dean Dodd finished the Comrades Marathon within minutes of each other. Fourie has earned his green number, which is a permanent marathon identifier.

It was a proud day for Goudveld Multisport when all of their athletes crossed the 90km finishing line between Pietermaritzburg and Durban, each of them earning a hard-fought medal.

“Race-day conditions followed forecasts, starting cool and overcast, warming under sunshine, then shifting to gusty late-afternoon winds as expected. The changing weather added complexity, but our runners embraced the challenge with grit and resilience,” says Dean Dodd.

He says the Comrades once again brought communities together.

“Congratulations also to other clubs’ athletes. Well done, you showed true spirit out there. Also, a thank you to all the supporters and seconders on the road. Lastly, to all our local supporters at home here in Welkom and the greater Free State – thank you. From training kilometres with you all in the streets, to race day prayers and cheers, your encouragement carried us through. Goudveld Multisport runs with heart, and that heart beats stronger because of our community,” says Dodd.
