Two foreign nationals were arrested for possession of drugs in the Welkom central business district (CBD).
On Monday (29/05) the Welkom Public Order Policing (POP) arrested two men after they were caught with drugs in Welkom’s commercial district.
On the day, the police were busy with their routine patrols in Mooi Street, next to an optometry consulting room, when they noticed a group of suspicious-looking men.
The men fled in different directions when the police van stopped next to them. They were then chased and two were caught.
The two were searched and 5 g along with 14 sachets of crystal meth (tik) were found in their possession. The duo, aged 40 and 51 years, were arrested and will appear in the Welkom Magistrates’ Court on 31 May.
