Robbery foiled by Virginia police and mine security

On Wednesday, 5 July, members of the police’s Knock-out Team and mine security in Virginia received and acted on information received about a planned house robbery in Harmony, Virginia.


On Wednesday, 5 July, members of the police’s Knock-out Team and mine security in Virginia received and acted on information received about a planned house robbery in Harmony, Virginia.

On the day, the Knock-out Team collaborated with the mine security guards after receiving information about a house targeted for robbery by suspects in Gawie Theron Street, Harmony, Virginia.

At the address, two vehicles were seen passing the house. The suspects became aware of the police’s presence and proceeded to shoot in their direction.

The police returned fire and one of the suspects sustained a gunshot wound to his leg. Both the police and mine security chased after the suspects.

A drone was used to trace the fleeing suspects. In the process a 40-year-old suspect from the North West was arrested with a 9mm firearm in his possession. The weapon’s registration number was filed off.

The suspect is facing charges of attempted murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. The other suspects are still at large.
